What Is The Elephant Path Community?
The Elephant Path Community is a monthly membership designed to help parents make sense of the questions, challenges, and invisible mental load that come with raising a neurodivergent child.
Instead of trying to research, process, and solve everything alone, you’ll have a supportive place to talk through what is happening, identify what matters most, and decide what to do next.
A Private Community That Understands
Connect with parents who recognize the realities of neurodivergent family life without requiring you to explain or defend your experience.
Monthly Live Elephant Circles
Join guided conversations that help you process what you’re carrying, gain perspective, and leave with greater clarity.
The Elephant Path™ Framework
Use a practical process to organize your concerns, identify your priorities, and choose your next manageable step.
Expert Conversations and Workshops
Learn from trusted professionals and experienced voices without having to sort through endless disconnected advice.
Practical Tools and Guided Resources
Access reflections, prompts, and resources that help you apply what you are learning in everyday family life.
Ongoing Support and Accountability
Stay connected as your child, your challenges, and your family’s needs continue to evolve.
The goal is not to become a perfect parent or solve everything at once. It is to feel less alone, more grounded, and better supported in the decisions ahead.
What Changes When You Have the Right Support?
You gain a place to put the questions that have been living inside your head.
You become clearer about what needs your attention now—and what can wait. You feel more confident making decisions, more supported during difficult seasons, and less responsible for figuring everything out by yourself.
When the parent has a steadier foundation, the entire family benefits.
You Don’t Have to Know Exactly What You Need.
You do not need to prepare, organize your thoughts, or arrive with the right questions.
Simply come as you are. We’ll help you understand what you’re carrying, identify what matters most right now, and find your next step from there.

What is the Elephant Path Community?
The Elephant Path Community is our monthly membership where parents come together for encouragement, practical conversations, expert workshops, and ongoing support.
It is designed to help families move from survival mode toward greater steadiness, clarity, and connection.
What is The Elephant Path?
The Elephant Path™ is the framework that guides everything we create at The Small Elephant.
It is built on the belief that families need more than information—they need a way to move from overwhelm toward steadiness.
Through three stages—See, Steady, and Strengthen—The Elephant Path helps parents feel understood, regain clarity, and build sustainable support for the entire family.
What happens inside the community?
Members receive access to experiences such as:
- Monthly Open Circle conversations
- Live community discussions
- Expert workshops
- Guided prompts and resources
- Practical tools
- A private online community
- Opportunities to connect with parents who understand what life with neurodivergence can actually feel like
Our goal is not simply to provide information, but to create a place where families feel genuinely seen and supported.
Is participation required?
No. Some members join every conversation. Others simply lurk until they're ready. There is no expectation to share before you feel comfortable. You are welcome exactly where you are.
Is this a Facebook group?
No. The community is hosted in a private member space designed to reduce distractions, protect privacy, and encourage meaningful conversations.
Is my privacy protected?
Yes. The community is designed to prioritize emotional safety, respectful participation, confidentiality expectations, and private support spaces.
We intentionally created a private space because many parents don't feel comfortable discussing their family publicly.
Members are expected to respect one another's privacy and help maintain an emotionally safe environment.
What makes this different from parenting groups online?
Most parenting groups focus heavily on advice, behavior correction, or surface-level tips.
The Small Elephant focuses first on emotional safety, nervous-system support, meaningful connection, and sustainable family support.
Will people actually understand what we’re going through?
That is one of the core reasons this exists.
The community is built around shared lived experience and emotional understanding — not judgment or oversimplified advice.
What if I already feel overwhelmed and stretched thin?
Many parents join precisely because they are overwhelmed and can’t see a strong path forward.
The goal is not to give you “one more thing to manage,” but to help reduce isolation, emotional overload, and survival-mode exhaustion.
Is this practical support or emotional support?
Both. Families receive emotional support, guidance, shared understanding, resources, workshops, and practical conversations around real-life challenges.
Is this therapy?
No. The Small Elephant is not therapy, crisis intervention, or clinical treatment. It is a support ecosystem focused on emotional safety, guidance, community, and sustainable support.
What qualifications does Gretchen have?
Gretchen’s work is rooted in years of lived experience navigating neurodivergent family realities, advocacy systems, therapies, school support, emotional regulation challenges, and family-system adaptation.
She is also the creator of The Elephant Path™ and founder of The Small Elephant.
What makes Gretchen's perspective different?
The Small Elephant grew out of lived experience navigating therapies, school systems, IEPs, diagnoses, sensory differences, emotional regulation, executive functioning challenges, and the everyday realities of raising a neurodivergent family.
Alongside that experience, Gretchen is a systems thinker, inventor, and founder who has spent years identifying patterns across the many challenges families face. Those insights became the foundation of The Elephant Path™.
What is The Open Circle?
Open Circle is our free monthly live Zoom conversation for parents who want to experience The Small Elephant before joining the community.
It's a welcoming place to ask questions, connect with other parents, and discover whether our approach feels like the right fit for your family.
Do I have to become a member after attending Open Circle?
Not at all.
Open Circle exists because we believe parents deserve support before they're asked to make a commitment.
You're welcome whether you attend once or many times.
What if I’m not ready for a membership yet?
That’s exactly why the Open Circle exists.
It offers a low-pressure way to explore support, ask questions, and see whether this feels aligned for your family.
What happens during a private session?
A Private session is not therapy. Private sessions provide one-on-one guidance around the challenges your family is currently navigating.
Topics often include:
- School advocacy
- IEP planning
- Diagnosis processing
- Parenting challenges
- Family transitions
- Emotional overwhelm
- Decision making
- Identifying practical next steps
Every family's situation is different, so each conversation is tailored to your needs.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. Memberships can be canceled at any time. There are no long-term contracts or commitments.
